The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
